Jane Podkolinski

After graduating with an economics degree in 1973, Jane Podkolinski joined the NHS as a trainee public finance accountant.  After a year of training Jane decided to find out more about the service she was training to manage by taking a nursing auxiliary job on a ward. This experience altered the course of her career and Jane retrained as a nurse and then midwife. She moved to Â鶹¹ú²ú in 1981, and joined the maternity services as a bank midwife. Over the course of the next 31 years she did a variety of jobs within the service, including teaching student midwives in the unit and at Bournemouth University. For 17 years she had a clinical lead role on the labour ward and the last 6 years of her career she was a labour ward manager. To support her various roles Jane completed a Masters degree in Midwifery, and Postgraduate Diplomas in Education and Management. Since retirement in 2012, she has taken on a variety of volunteer roles, including Volunteer Co-ordinator for Wiltshire Creative and ward volunteer at the hospital.

Our staff at Â鶹¹ú²ú District Hospital have long been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment they provide for our patients and for their innovation, commitment and professionalism. This has been recognised in a wide range of achievements and it is reflected in our award of NHS Foundation Trust status. This is afforded to hospitals that provide the highest standards of care.
